From Fashionista to Egg Maiden

Yesterday I took a job doing the egg candling at Elmwood Stock Farm in Georgetown. I wash the eggs then hold them up to a light to make sure there are no cracks. I put them in cartons. The cartons are stacked in a box which is then put in the walk-in. And over and over it goes.

I feel like I've won the lottery.

I've been wanting repetitive and meditative work for awhile now, craving time to just sit in my head. I'd only imagined physically demanding jobs like hammering nails and pulling weeds. It never occurred to me that I might find something so pleasant and satisfying as what I've found.

The farm is a stunning beauty and the barn where I work is open, allowing full view of the rolling fields. I can listen to my iPod...or not. Periodically a barn cat will come in and wind around my legs as I work. Andy prepares a delicious lunch for us everyday from the farm's bounty.

Contemplation and meditation plus lunch. What a life!

MicroBlogging stole my Blogging Mojo...

I've been getting angry comments from some guy who really hates the FLips. I guess he didn't have anything better to do than scour teh internets for blog posts about them cause my last post was August of 2008. Sheesh....some people have too much time on their hands.....Not me, I've been busy since last August. It's just that I've been talking about it elsewhere.
The main reason that I'm here is to announce that I've given up smoking....again. I told myself that I had to make a post once I broke my record of time off the sticks. I've now been nicotine free for 9 weeks which breaks my record by a few days! You can pat me on the back next time you see me and don't forget to tell me that I smell great and my skin looks so much better....KTHXBAI!
