It's always good to see my Lolli show up in pictures and especially framed so well by all those… other people.

I have one of my little peevish theories to share though: I think that the band we know and love is officially named Love Jones. There's some confusion about tacking "the" onto the front, imho, because of the song "Matter of Fact," which begins with an intro by a (seemingly) seedy emcee, followed by (very little) scattered applause. So I think the joke is that, not only are they playing in a hopeless dump, but when announced ("put your hands together, make 'em feel real good! Next up, The Love JONES!), the emcee doesn't even get their name right. Ironically, this may be perpetuated by many a loyal LJ fan and even emcee introducing the band (like this radio chick who introduces them at the live WFPK gig the night before the Phoenix Hill gig). Of course, this could be total BS on my part. I'll bet JT could answer conclusively.

U are zactly right. They are LOVE JONES...not THE LOVE JONES. That's why I titled my post The LOVE JONES and not THE LOVE JONES. It was my own lil pun on top of a pun. Ya know I was having a little Love Jones. that's actually the true reason i was tiltin my head.. just trying to get some LOVE............

a funny thing: in the "live lunch" thing (an hour long concert!), the emcee kind of tries to pay them a compliment on an oft-misunderstood point with musicians.. she sez: "well, we're all glad that you guys are releasing another album, because I know a lot of us have really worn out your first two records." And Ben kind of spits out: "You think you're tired of them?! Try playing those songs for 15 years!! We're sick of them!" Or something to that effect...

Yeah, so Mick asked me to clear up the "The" issue, but it looks like y'all have sorted it out already. It is indeed Love Jones (no THE) ... Unless yrr tuning in to the Schwimmer flick on cable TV, in which the bass drum head reads "Luv Jones" & the credits say the part of Luv Jones is played by Love Jones (if I remember correctly.)

More trivia: The cheesy announcer on the record is almost certainly drummer Stuart Johnson, AKA the dude who also played with Matthew Sweet & was the drummer in the "Wayne's World" band. Looks like Stuart wasn't at the LJ show last weekend. Too bad, he's a great one.

In other news, since I found out about the latest show, I've semi re-established e-contact with the LJ posse. Basically I'm asking them to let me know whenever they plan future concerts. I'm halfway bummed about the "Penis Hill" show cause I coulda been there! I've got extra vacation days & everything. It would've been fun & I bet I could've jammed a few tunes even.

Um--nothing else to say but..

Love--J
